Montana Human Rights Bureau
The Montana Human Rights Bureau provides advice and assistance with education, government services, financial transactions, insurance, public accommodations, housing and employment discrimination complaints. Employment discrimination complaints must be based on race color creed religion sex (including maternity, pregnancy and sexual harassment), age, national origin, disability, marital status, political beliefs. Housing discrimination complaints must be based on: race color creed religion sex (including maternity, pregnancy and sexual harassment), age, national origin, disability, marital status, family status. The Montana Human Rights Bureau does not provide assistance on Native American Reservations.
It is important to know that a person only has 180 days from when an adverse act happened (or when it was discovered) to have a written complaint filed with the Bureau. This time may be extended, but only in limited circumstances.
